Six accessories you need for your mini PC

There are plenty of nice and useful accessories for your laptop. Here we have looked at six of sensible products you should get to do work and play better in your mobile world!
A laptop is very convenient to have. You can take it with you anywhere and sit and work wherever you are. But there are drawbacks with notebooks, in terms of ergonomics, technology and features.Luck is good when there are plenty of additional accessories to have!

1. Israel externally smooth mouse

The touchpad on the mini-computers is to say the least variable quality. Since space on the computers is so limited is the touch pad is often relatively small. It is unfortunately common that manufacturers do not fit with the mouse buttons below the plate, and then they put them on either side instead. This is something I have criticized in my tests of mini-computers.

Regardless of how the trackpad is designed so they are not fun to work with for an extended period. Fair ergonomically, it is terrible for the hand to control the plate. Therefore, I recommend that you get a real mouse as a complement. There are small so-called laptop mice that are convenient and easy going down in your notebook bag.
I have over a week's time tested Microsoft Explorer Mini Mouse and liked it. It is cordless and despite being quite small is it good in the hand. There are scroll wheel and two extra buttons on the side.

2. Optical device - CD / DVD Writer

Minicomputers have no room for an optical drive - that is, CD or DVD burner. It can be a problem for those who want to see a movie or need to install software from disks. But there are external devices that connect through the USB port and that is not very large.
If you are looking for an external DVD burner, you should look for mobile versions. They are much thinner, they are lightweight and also requires the external power adapter. Sometimes they may need two free USB ports to get enough power. An alternative is Freecom Mobile 8x LS Pro USB / Firewire .

3. USB lamp is lit upp tangent table

Do you sit in bed and writing at night, it is not always easy to see the keyboard. Then maybe one tough little USB lamp can be interesting? It is coolstuff offering a USB-connected lamp. The light is perhaps not so strong but it may perform its function. The pole lamp that sits on can be angled relatively freely.
USB lamp costs 99 dollars. The offset of the pin is at 45 centimeters and the lamp takes power from the USB port so you need no batteries.

4th Real speakers for loud music

Many manufacturers of minicomputers boast that their computers have superduperbra hi-fi sound. Technically, is it certain that they have built up really good audio stuff on the computer, but it applies only where the specifications. There is no mini-computer that has the best speakers that sound can be used for listening to music at reasonable volume.
A pair of external speakers will come in handy. PCOnline have previously tried a couple of small speakers for laptops called Crystal Mini Hi-Fi Speakers. They stand up very well in the market for small portable speakers. The sound impressed. The speakers can manage fine with just a USB connection.

5th Extra storage space on USB flash drive

Today, most hand-held computers on a hard drive 120-160 GB. Suffice it pretty far, but there is no harm of course never to have even more storage space. A USB flash drive also fills another important function, and it is as a backup device. Notebook computers are easy to fritter away and they are very attractive to thieves. If you back up your important files on a USB stick you have in all cases the files are safe on the computer is stolen.
A USB flash drive will cost no many crowns today, and you select a level of around 4-8 GB. Each time a new frontier for storage on USB flash drives will drop the old models in price. A Corsair USB Flash Survivor at 8 GB, you get just over 250 dollars.

6th Cold plate to place it on

Do you use your computer on the couch watching TV, you sit safely on your lap. It can get quite hot, and it is not good either for yourself or your computer. Therefore it makes sense to invest in a special plate to put the laptop on. Actually you can get by with the plate at any time, just the computer must be on a flat surface so that it becomes air flow underneath, and that the fans are free.
However, there are more pleasant alternative than an atlas or tray of food. We've written about some of these before, so here's a list to choose from: Logitech Cooling Pad , Microsoft Mini Notebook Cooling Base , Philips Netbook Ladle and budget variation IKEA Board .

Touch Screen on the laptop from Toshiba

Toshiba is releasing a series of upgraded laptops in time for the launch of Windows 7. The most interesting is the Toshiba Satellite U505 and Satellite M505 , which comes with tryckkänliga screens - something that Windows 7 includes a good support.
Multitouch and management of pressure-sensitive screens is one of the major new features in Windows 7. The technology has existed for earlier operating systems, but has required special software. Nowadays it is more embedded in the OS itself. Therefore we are likely to see more and more computers that use touch-screens.
Toshiba is launching a number of different models of laptops. Among those most worthy of mention is the Satellite U505 and M505. These will, in fact with just touchscreens. The other models in the launch is more like earlier computers, but with Windows 7 operating system.

Toshiba Satellite U505 has a 13.3-inch screen and weighs in at 2.3 kilograms. The target price in the U.S. is set at approximately 7300 dollars. M505 is a bit bigger and comes with a screen of 14.4 inches and have a target price of around 6600 dollars. In Sweden, prices will probably fall a bit over this.
Both computers come with the software package, life space that includes tools to take advantage of pressure-sensitive functions. The launch in the United States for the Toshiba Satellite U505 on November 1, while the M505 is already October 22 - that is, when Windows 7 is launched

Shuttle X500V, en rackarns Tunn allt-i-ett-PC!

Shuttle, which is known to manufacture small desktop computers, has now presented its new project - Shuttle X500V. This is an all-in-a-computer where you have the entire PC mounted in the screen. Very cool!

Shuttle X500V is by no means the firstall-in-one PC on the market. Absolutely not. There is rather a trend in the construction of this kind. Not as big as the trend of mini-computers, but all-in-one computers are growing in popularity.Everything from basic models up to such as Apple's iMac .
An all-in-one PC looks like a monitor, though you have built into your computer's hardware in it. Thus you do not have lots of cords and it takes up much less space. You can also hang up your computer to the wall, if you want to treat themselves to and have a computer in the kitchen. The computers are usually touch-sensitive screensthat allow you not necessarily need the mouse and keyboard.

Shuttle's computer has a thickness at a paltry 3.6 inches. The actual screen is a 15.6-incher that can handle 1366 x 768 pixels. The specifications on the computer's hardware includes an Intel Atom 330 Dual-Core processor at 1.6 GHz x 2, 1 GB of internal memory and a 160GB hard drive.
Furthermore, the computer has a webcam of 1.3 megapixel, built-in speakers and microphone and card reader. Network connection is either via a gigabit Ethernet or wireless 802.11n. Among the ports you'll find five USB ports, VGA and six-channel audio.
Interesting to mention is that the Shuttle delivers his X500V with Linux as operating system. It's a bit cheeky, given that so many other manufacturers of cheap computers make Linux and bet only on Windows XP (and later Windows 7 ).
Shuttle X500V has a suggested starting price of 444 EUR excluding VAT. What it gets in the Swedish market is uncertain.

Why we love Twitter!

Twitter has been a success and an increasing number of joins in the social service. I've been running Twitter for a long time now, and I can not help but multiple times each day, check out my Twitter, read what others write and post your own messages on the micro-blog.

The Twitter talk about followers, tweets and re-tweets. Such, you will learn more about in my guide. Once you have started your account, sign in and then go to my page, where you click Follow to follow me. If you are interested in computers, the Internet and other private I write about. Otherwise there are lots of other smart twitter. Take a look at the Swedes tend to post with Tag, and these can be found at Hashtags.
Since it is on Twitter as many post news first, it has become popular with search engines that focus on tweets - that is, Twitter entries. These are called real-time search engine and there are several to test. Are you going to do research in a timely subject, is a realtidssök great tool.

Review: Microsoft Security Essentials, free antivirus

Microsoft has launched a free antivirus program that has now come out in full version. Is it time to replace your antivirus protection against one of Microsoft ? PCOnline have tested the Microsoft Security Essentials - the free tool called!

Microsoft Security Essentials showed up as a beta version a while back, and with the launch test, I drove the early version for a while. I wrote a text about this on my blog . Now it has free anti-virus arrived in the full version and it's still free . However, it is not yet translated into Swedish, so the version I chose was in English.
Security Essentials, offers one resident antivirus protection . This means that the program is in the background of your system and ensures that no virus infects your computer. You can compare with a virus scanner, as there are plenty of free versions of where the program will only scan your computer for viruses but does not remain and protect.

Free Antivirus

Software is available for Windows XP , Vista and Windows 7 . The file you download is about 8 MB, and then also needed updates are downloaded but it went very quickly. After installation, you can choose to scan your computer to see if there are any viruses lurking in the files on your hard drives and other storage devices.

The scan took about 30 minutes on my test computer. Then it is a relatively old computer at 3 GHz with 1.5 GB of internal memory and a couple of hard drives totaling about 500 GB. The speed must be assessed as average.
When I test for viruses, there are several details I'm looking at. What I do not test is how effective protection against viruses . This is something that I believe require significantly more resources than most newsrooms have access to. To carry out a fair test of antivirus effectiveness requires much more than simply installing some virus files and then kick off the program.
Why do I like most reviewers and the viewing figures from well-known and credible test centers , such as AV Comparatives.org and AV-Test . These, and some others, carrying out very good reviews that provide a good basis to assess how effective the virus protection is.
What I'm looking at is the installation , user interface , how much performance it takes the computer and the General experience of the software. This is what users have proven to be most interested. An antivirus program will work silently and efficiently in the background , without interrupting the user with either dialog boxes or by pulling down the performance of your computer

5 Tips to secure your wireless network for Ipred

The much criticized Ipred Act comes into force today. With Ipred the music and film companies to go to court to demand information about the ownership of an IP number, for sending out compensation.
Networking company D-Link has issued a press release which gives tips on how to hedge up their wireless networks. If you do not, there is great risk that others around can use it to share files, and if they do, the plump expensive claims in the mailbox with you. Read more at Aftonbladet , Dagens Nyheter , Svenska Dagbladet and IDG .
The blogosphere is in progress, however, a campaign right now, where you want all open their wireless networks to make it more difficult for those who want to exploit Ipred. This campaign is called Wiki .
The tips from D-Link:

1st Change the default password on your router

It does not matter how good you have configured your security settings if the neighbor can log into the router. Many routers come with a simple username and password. Change the password immediately.
2nd Activate your router's firewall

Most routers have built-in firewall for filtering of incoming and outgoing traffic, and even if you have Windows own firewall, you should also use the router's built-in.Product Manager Fred Wells has encountered too many who blindly rely solely on the operating system's firewall. All D-Link routers, the firewall is enabled by default.
3rd Turn on encryption

It is very important to enable encryption on your wireless network, there are different solutions with different levels of security. The simplest option called WEP.WPA2 is the safest option and is supported in all D-Link wireless routers. It is essential that you enable encryption.

4th Hide your router's SSID identities

There is no need to advertise your wireless network to the outside world, so disable the so-called "SSID broadcast". It is unnecessary to tempt outsiders to test your network. While there is software that can find the network anyway, but the risk is not as great for someone to try to break into your network if it is not visible.
5th Use MAC filtering for maximum security

Using MAC filtering is an effective way to keep meddlesome stingy surfers away. Each wireless device has a network card, which in turn has a unique "identity". By specifying the identity of the router are you sure only your gadgets get access to the wireless network.

These changes should be done regardless if you are afraid of Ipred or not - unless you want to jump on the Wiki. To have a secure wireless network prevents neighbors from mooching on your bandwidth, and it also protects you against other forms of attack.

Windows 7 may be higher prices in Europe

Windows 7 will get a higher price in Europe than it receives in the United States. It now says Microsoft and the reason is the ruling by the European Court of Justice that constrain it to Europe-friendly Windows 7.

Windows 7 will be launched in Sweden on October 31 , and there are many who look forward to the critically acclaimed operating system. There seems to be less expensive than Windows Vista did when it launched, but now claims to Microsoft be forced to raise the price - for us in Europe.

The reason is that the European Court of Justice condemned Microsoft for infringement of competition when the former chose to include the Internet Explorer into the operating system. Then there were many other developers of Web browsers that struck rear. By embedding Internet Explorer in Windows Microsoft made it difficult for third party developers to get users over to their browsers.
Now, Microsoft will make a special European version of Windows 7 . During the installation process of the operating system, users will be able to choose to install Internet Explorer, Firefox or another browser.
The price increase, however, only those who buy Windows 7 over the counter. The increase is as Metro of approximately 200-800 SEK depending on the version of Windows 7, you choose to acquire. There are six different versions of the OS.
However, if you are upgrading from an earlier Windows, which Microsoft believes that most will do so not affected the price. Then it remains at the previous price levels.

Stylish laptop, the Asus Tested: PRO61SL-6X095C

Asus PRO61SL-6X095C is the name of a new laptop from Asus which is sold over the summer. The model is targeted to those who need a new computer before the start of school and want some extra muscle on your machine.
The first question I asked myself after having unpacked the computer from the box and pressed the power button was started - but there would be no windows on it? Instead of Windows namely, I was met by a Windows-like interface but functionally was very limited.
The system, which instead is running a system that Asus has installed on the machine that runs in parallel with Windows. It is meant to be used when you need to quickly turn on the computer and quickly shut it again.
The interface allows you to access basic functions such as surfing and e-mail, etc., but few opportunities to install their own programs and so on, there is not. Launch this interface takes a few seconds from pressing the special start button for this.
Windows are really not very much longer to launch, so the whole idea even though it certainly was good from the start can be questioned. The fact that it is not possible to change the resolution of the system, which is clearly not suited for computer widescreen display, makes it even more annoying.

Vista makes Windows 7

Well, after starting running Windows instead, I see that it is Windows Vista as the machine is equipped with. The specimens are shipped with this system will, however, free to be upgraded to Windows 7 when it is released. The computer is a solid thing and provides a neat outer appearance. The keyboard is easy to write on, the trackpad is well positioned and hang with me in the turns.
Above the display is a small web camera positioned and pre-installed on the machine is software that enables you to log on to your computer by allowing the webcam to recognize your face. The function worked fine when I tested it, although a note of caution about the safety course should be increased. Suffice it to push up on my driver's license in front of the screen on your computer to lure it to log into my account.

Good Monitor

The screen on the computer is as common to wide-type and has a shiny surface. As long as your computer is not a place where you have sunlight straight back into the screen works well even outdoors.

Quiet fans - but bad battery

To be a computer with such a good performance as this computer has, the fan mechanism on the surprisingly quiet. The computer is not annoying hot and he is therefore good to have in your lap without risk of genetic damage in future offspring.
The built DVD-läsaren/brännaren are also comparatively pretty quiet when watching movies or other uses. The only thing I have to remark on what the computer is concerned, the too small number of battery life.
six-cell battery despite the dried computer just to be alive in around two hours at normal use - probably will be even tighter on time resource applications such as games or images running.

Only 6 percent are running with HDTV, even though they are HD-ready TV

Best picture is called a survey is conducted by SIFO on behalf of Canal Digital. It shows that 45 percent of Swedes have an HD-ready TV , but that only 6 percent use them to view HD broadcasts.
Many Swedes have given up their old thick-TV with a new flat screen TV in the form of LCD or plasma. The vast majority of these are HD-ready, which means they can display high resolution. But there are few who use it here because it requires an HD digital box and access to television channels broadcasting in HDTV. If you connect an HD-Ready for a standard digital TV box, it is not certain that you get better quality. In fact, it often gets worse.
- Without HD box and channels, the experience is in many cases worse than the old thick-TV We must improve the entire industry to tell what is needed for HDTV.HD is here to stay, but knowledge is still too low, "says Mats Almgren, CEO of Canal Digital Sweden.
The survey shows that many are interested in getting a HD box. One in four respondents say they plan to buy one. 56 percent say they do not know which, according to SIFO and Digital Canal points to poor information about what an HD box does. 51 percent say it's mostly movie they want to see in high definition format.
- There is undoubtedly a great interest in HDTV in Sweden and many have already taken the large investment in the purchase of an HD-ready TV. It is the last step, box and channels, we must improve on to explain, "says Jenny Pedersén PR manager at Canal Digital Sweden.

Clean up and secure your computer, Part 3: Clean up your hard drive

Clean up your hard drive is done partly manually and partly with smart tools. By cleaning out unnecessary files you free up storage space and may remove items that might mess.
If you are an ordinary home user, you are guaranteed to have lots of files lying on the hard disk. I know that I have. Every time I clean up the movies, photos, downloaded programs and other unnecessary, I regain many gigabytes of storage space.
This manual work is not particularly exciting, it should be recognized, but it gives quick returns. Click through your folders and delete stuff you do not want. Let [Part] button to go hot. When finished, empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking it and selecting Empty Trash.
Should you accidentally delete a file you want to keep, you can only watch so that it is not in the Recycle Bin. If not, you can use the program Recuva to recover deleted files. However, you need to be quick, so that location on your hard disk where the file was, did not have time to be overwritten by something else.
Step of the cleansing is to use CCleaner. This critically acclaimed freeware scans your computer and allows you to clean out lots of different files, which you do not manually have taken care of. Often, there are tons of temp files that do not serve any purpose at all more than take up space.
